The regional BioHighTech Network, set up in 2016 through the leadership of Biovalley Investments, aims at accelerating innovative companies. It includes over 30 companies operating in the BioHighTech sector, which have managed to grow thanks to their innovation of products and services, especially on international markets, even during the 2008-2012 financial crisis. Some of the companies in this network (TBS Group) and this segment (Lima) have, in terms of revenues or employees, managed to become among the twenty most representative industrial companies in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Four years ago moreover, the same network began to organise conference and exhibition events annually with regard to research and innovation in the health sector (such as EuroBioHighTech 2018). This was done jointly with the regional cluster of the sector (CBM), with Confindustria Venezia Giulia and with the Camera di Commercio, Industria, Artigianato e Agricoltura Venezia Giulia, with a constant involvement of the companies of the BioHighTech Net network and regional research programmes in the health sector (including hospital research institutes). The most recent editions have also seen the participation of trade associations and those issuing from Confindustria (such as Assobiomedica), as well as of national research institutions, both national and from Central and Eastern European countries.
