COLLEGIO UNIVERSITARIO
LUCIANO FONDA

Luciano Fonda University College

The Collegio Universitario Luciano Fonda (Luciano Fonda University College) is a body promoting culture born on the initiative of the University of Trieste and of some of the leading scientific institutions of the city to give deserving students the opportunity to live and study in Trieste. Active since 2000, it is named after Luciano Fonda, an eminent Triestine physicist who died in 1998, often called the “father” of the Elettra Sincrotrone for having contributed substantially to its creation, and for this reason awarded the San Giusto d’Oro, the City of Trieste’s highest civic award, in 1993.

The mission of the Collegio Luciano Fonda is to accompany its students in an interdisciplinary training process, which includes seminars, conferences, short courses, workshops, advanced language courses, guidance, that are complementary to the path of the university studies and particularly aimed at the acquisition and strengthening of soft skills. All teaching activities are held by Italian and foreign university professors, researchers and scholars of other institutions and experts of a high cultural profile.
