The Università degli Studi di Trieste was founded in 1924. Over the years, new faculties were added and there are now ten departments, located in the Trieste, Gorizia, Pordenone and Portogruaro sites:

– Clinic of medical, surgical and health sciences;
– Physics;
– Engineering and architecture;
– Mathematics and geosciences;
– Chemical and pharmaceutical sciences;
– Economics, business, mathematics and statistics;
– Juridical sciences, of language and of interpretation;
– Political and social sciences;
– Life sciences;
– Humanities.

The quality of teaching is flanked by the quality of research: the University is in fact ranked fourth in Italy among the medium-sized universities and has a strong international connotation: 9% of its students come from abroad (twice the national average), and there are over 600 international collaboration agreements for teaching, mobility and research, degrees and doctorates in English.
